Life Design Series: Building a Meaningful Life

Life isn’t one thing cut out for you – there are so many different potential ways to live it and by going through the process of design thinking, you can create your best life plan. This was a new way of thinking for me. Any thoughtful person who wants to live a more meaningful life should do this!
— Tayler Corbisiero, New Business Director at UNiDAYS

Our Life Design Series consists of six conversations and exercise-heavy sessions aimed at challenging you to think about your life differently and test out new ways of approaching your decisions.

Topics and exercises borrowed from Stanford's Bill Burnett and Dave Evans, and their Designing Your Life book provide the backdrop to a remarkably positive and doable approach to career and life planning.

Whether you're interested in re-evaluating or charting new career or life choices, you'll apply design thinking techniques to tackle your big questions in a fun and collaborative way.

You'll walk away with a fresh approach, tools, momentum, and a community of new connections that enrich your perspective and creativity to help you move forward.

My biggest takeaway from the series was that it’s possible to do what has been in my mind for so long. The group always had ideas or thoughts I didn’t think of! If you are ready to make changes personally or professionally, this is the program to do. It will motivate you to take action and move your life forward.

I really enjoyed this series.
I tend to stay in my head most of the time, thinking things over, so this design-thinking approach to my career was sort of a revelation for me. The group discussions and getting input from others was so valuable.
It was great!

About the Facilitator:

Shannon Romines Headshot.JPG

Shannon Romines is a nonprofit communications professional with a passion for self-improvement--her own and others'--and the ways we leverage community to bring out the best in ourselves. When Shannon heard Emily recommend the book "Designing Your Life" for the upteenth time, she had an idea: "The authors recommend going through the book with a group, I'm looking for a group, and Emily's clients must be, too." The result was a collaboration to adapt the book into a 6-week workshop series, which Shannon began leading independently with the fourth cohort. She loves facilitating this process for people, and witnessing the ways a supportive community can be a launching pad for personal growth and positive change.

In January, I joined Pivot’s Life Design Series with five other carefully selected, highly successful women eager to make an important change in their careers and life. I had such a positive experience. The series opened up a different way of looking at problems and finding tangible solutions, and Emily is authentic, knowledgeable and great instructor. I can’t recommend this program enough for those looking for a professional or personal transition.

This series really highlighted the value of having a community to work through life’s big questions by getting you out of your own head. It challenged me to think about my life differently and test out a new way of approaching decisions.
