Great Job Boards You Might Not Know: Part One.

At Pivot Journeys we talk about finding jobs a lot.

And we often get asked, ‘where are the best places to look for jobs?’

While the answer to that question is usually not ‘on job boards,’ job boards do play a role, and can be helpful when you’re trying to decide what sounds good to you and what’s currently out there.

So we thought we’d share some of the big and small job boards that we’ve found super interesting and helpful along the way!

You’ve likely heard of Monster.com, Indeed.com, and probably Idealist.org. These are definitely great resources for finding your dream job.

But there are a whole bunch of other job search websites you might not have heard of that specialize in different types of fields and industries that can help you uncover the perfect job for you.

We’ll be sharing with you some of the great ones we’ve come across that might be helpful.

This week we’re giving you general ones that have lots of different types of roles in many different industries.

Over the next month, we’ll feature ones that are industry or expertise-specific. Check ‘em out!

GLASSDOOR

If you haven’t gotten on board and signed up for a Glassdoor account, you gotta get on this bandwagon! In addition to telling you how much average salaries are at various companies they have great insider info on what to expect in an interview at a particular company and what employees really think of the company’s CEO and work environment.

But Glassdoor also has jobs! Search by job keyword, company, location, or industry and you’re sure to find not just the job posting, but a ton of other helpful info you’ll want to know.

FINDSPARK

FindSpark (formerly NY Creative Interns) caters to interns and entry-level job seekers mainly who are looking for jobs at some of the most well known companies and brands out there.

They’re a membership community that’s the largest Meetup group for interns and young college grads. They also offer a variety of different types of events designed to help you hit the ground running on your career success.

THE LADDERS

Are you someone who’s making or looking to make $100k+ in their next job, then The Ladders might be a great place for you to check out.

Started in 2003, The Ladders is a community of employers and job seekers for high-level jobs. In addition to recruiting for some of the top companies, they also provide a bunch of services including resume assistance for paid membership.

THE MUSE

One of our favorites, the Muse is chockablock full of jobs, companies and advice to check out.

Want to know what it’s like to work in a certain company? They give you an insider view, complete with photos of what the office looks like to give you a sense of what it’s like to work there.

They also have a great Coach Connect program where you can book time with a coach to review your resume and other great offerings.

You could spend hours on this site soaking up it’s great content.

LINKEDIN

Some of you are thinking, ‘ok, duh, yes we know LinkedIn has jobs’.

But really – if you haven’t been to the job board site recently, it’s worth taking another look at. You can set up a variety of preferences for your search including what size company you want to work for. That’s pretty cool and unique! And the other great thing is that it tells you who you are connected to already who works at the places you’re interested in. Super handy.

Check out their job board here after logging in.

So many places to check out for your next awesome gig!
